"STANDARDS is an experiment with what many of us suppose are the sign of on an orderly life: tidy surroundings, tidy personal space, tidy appearance, tidy manners, tidy thoughts - and the abiding desire to improve these traits. It is an experiment because we rarely question our assumptions about the value of orderliness; nor do we think much about why this or that is orderly at all. To find out what happens when we focus on these simple issues, a small group of person divided into pairs, carried out the preceding «program» on the weekend od December 9th and 10 th, 1978, in and around Cedar Falls - Waterloo, Iowa. Each pair independently executed the six parts of the piece in the everyday environment, at their own pace, in their own way, and without audience.
