«In 1979, Martin Kippenberger invited artist friends and punk bands to take part in the "1. außer-ordentliche Veranstaltung in Bild und Klang zum Thema der Zeit: ELEND" [ist extraordinary audiovisual event on the topical theme: MISERY] in "Kippenbergers Büro" in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin. The "2. außerordentliche Veranstaltung in Bild und Ton. Aktion Pisskrücke. Geheimdienst am Nächsten" [2nd extraordinary audio-visual event. Action Pisscrutch. Neighbourly Secret Service] was organized by the artists involved (Werner Büttner, Uwe Gabriel and Albert Oehlen). Finger für Deutschland [Finger for Germany] documents the third part of the series, held this time in Jörg Immendorff's studio in Düsseldorf. The programme of music accompanying the exhibition took place in the legendary Ratinger Hof. The artists involved were H. P. Adamski, Michael Bauch, Peter Bommels, Werner Büttner, Thomas Callsen, Walter Dahn, Jiri Georg Dokoupil, Drescher/ Berger, Deistler, Uwe Gabriel, Jörg Immendorff, Gerd Kever, Hilka Nordhausen, Gerhard Nasch-berger, Markus Oehlen, Albert Oehlen, Brigitta Rohrbach, Elvira Werschke, G. R. Tuzina and Martin Kippenberger. Each artist had a double page spread in the catalogue».
